The Shop Setup phase is crucial for creating realistic testing environments that accurately reflect consumer decision-making scenarios. This guide focuses on the process of adding and editing products.

1. Shop Setup Overview

The Shop Setup phase allows you to create a controlled testing environment by adding both your own products and competitor products that participants will evaluate.


Key Principles:

  • Include both your tested products and relevant competitor products
  • Ensure realistic product representation (for example such as seen on the Amazon marketplace)
  • It’s crucial to maintain consistency in product information quality across your test products and competitor

  • Create scenarios that reflect real shopping experiences


Available Actions:

  • Add new products via multiple methods
  • Edit existing product information
  • Preview the complete shop experience



2. Adding Product Options

The platform provides four distinct methods for adding products to your shop simulation, each optimized for different scenarios and data sources. Understanding these methods is crucial for efficient setup and realistic testing environments.

Purpose: Search and select existing or competitor products directly from Amazon's catalog.


Process:

  1. Click "Add a new product"
  2. Select "Add via search" under "Amazon Products"
  3. Select the country for your target market (Germany, US, UK, etc.)
  4. Enter search keywords for your existing or competitor products
  5. Browse search results and select relevant products
  6. Products are automatically imported with complete Amazon data


Advantages:

  • Complete product data automatically imported
  • Realistic market pricing and descriptions
  • Authentic customer reviews, ratings and A+ content
  • High-quality product images included



2.2 Add via ASIN from Amazon

Purpose: Directly import specific Amazon products using their unique identifier.


Process:

  1. Click "Add a new product"
  2. Select "Add via ASIN" under "Amazon Products"
  3. Enter the exact ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number)
  4. Product is automatically imported with all Amazon data


Advantages:

  • Fastest method for known products
  • 100% accurate product matching
  • No search ambiguity



Purpose: Access products from retailers like DM, Rossmann, and other merchants listed in Google Shopping.


Process:

  1. Click "Add a new product"
  2. Select "Add via Google Shopping Search"
  3. Search for products
  4. Select products from Google Shopping results


Advantages:

  • Access to diverse retail ecosystems
  • Varied pricing structures from different retailers

2.4 Add Tested Product Manually

Purpose: Create custom product entries with full control over all product attributes.


Process:

  1. Click "Add a new product"
  2. Manually configure all product elements:
  • Product Images: Upload main and secondary pictures
  • Product Name: Create descriptive title
  • Description: Write a comprehensive product description
  • A+ Content: Add enhanced product content and visuals
  • Pricing: Set competitive price points
  • Brand Information: Specify brand details
  • Ratings: Configure realistic review scores
  • Category: Assign appropriate product category


Advantages:

  • Complete creative control, especially if the product is not listed in marketplaces
  • Custom product positioning
  • Tailored testing scenarios
  • Unique product differentiation

2.5 Add a Test Product

Purpose: Add your own test product using the same methods available for competitor products.


Process:

  1. Use any of the above methods to add your test product:
  • Amazon Search
  • Google Shopping Search
  • ASIN
  • Manual Creation
  1. After importing or creating the product, navigate to "Type of product"
  2. Select "Your test product" from the dropdown
  3. Complete any additional customizations needed


Important:

  • Maintain a realistic and comparable presentation of your own test product
  • Equal number of secondary pictures, title and description length, A+ content

2.6 Add Test Product Variation

Purpose: Create variations of your test product to test specific elements in A/B scenarios.


Process:

  1. Locate your existing test product
  2. Click "Add variation" on your test product
  3. Edit the specific aspect you want to test:
  • Price
  • Picture
  • Description
  • Brand
  • Features
  • A+ Content


Best Practice:

  • Only change ONE element per variation to ensure clear A/B results
  • Keep all other product attributes identical between variations

2.7 Best Practice

  • Add via Amazon Search or ASIN: Add your product and competitor products in your category
  • Add Test Product Variation: Edit specific product elements (price, image, description)
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Clear differentiation between test elements
  • Use the Preview option to ensure consistent primary image and other attributes between your test products and competitors



3. Quality Assurance Guidelines

Pre-Launch Checklist

  • [ ] All required fields completed
  • [ ] High-quality images uploaded
  • [ ] Comprehensive product descriptions
  • [ ] Competitor products appropriately selected
  • [ ] Consistency of PDP information across all test and competitor products (images, description, rating, A+)
  • [ ] Shop preview reviewed and approved
